SUSTAINABILITY X TECHNOLOGY

Haley is driven to explore and implement solutions to the climate crisis that unlock the value of goods already in circulation within our communal ecosystems. Resale and next-generation tech solutions in the re-commerce space are Haley’s predominant domain. She is most interested in improving the current resale friction points in discovery and search optimization through the use of social commerce, community shopping, and curation through individuals.

In addition to the work she performs on her own projects, Haley regularly consults and advises with for-profit and non-profit organizations to slow the damaging impacts of the clothing industry on our vibrant, fragile planet.

SHOP TOMORROWS™

ShopTomorrows.com is a social re-commerce marketplace for trading-up clothes and material goods on a cashless, token-based economy. Haley founded the company in 2018 with the intention of giving consumers a more economical and sustainable way to buy and sell goods from one another without the high take-rates of current resale. The company is pioneering the next-generation of resale platforms with a high growth, low-cost model that advances a circular economy by using our outgrown things as currency for tomorrow’s purchases. Our first category is in kidswear, a white space in the resale market. ShopTomorrows launched in 2020, and is venture backed and based in CT.

TEACHING &
COURSE WORK

It has been Haley’s pleasure to give college students the tools to pursue careers in the fashion and business sectors by teaching courses on Textile Science and Sustainability, The Business of Fashion, Fashion Sustainability and Material Culture in History. Haley has been a faculty member and guest lecturer at F.I.T, Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University and U. of Bridgeport, and a mentor at Wesleyan University.

FASHION POLICY

On Feb 2, 2022, a new act was set forth in NY State to promote sustainability in fashion by requiring an increased commitment to sustainability on the part of all companies with more than $100 million in revenue doing business in New York. The bill is sponsored by State Senator Alessandra Biaggi and Assemblywoman Dr. Anna R. Kelles, and backed by a powerful coalition of nonprofits focused on fashion and sustainability, including the New Standard Institute. While this bill, if passed, would be a watershed moment to hold brands accountable for their sustainability practices, the bill has left out key factors. Haley and industry colleagues have formed a coalition, The Fashion Policy Initiative, to support this legislation and ensure that measures like reuse and waste management are added to this significant bill.
